Delhi shivers through 1st cold wave of the season
India
Delhi just had its chilliest December day yet, with temperatures dropping way below normal—Safdarjung hit 16.9°C and Palam saw 16.3°C, both about 5°C lower than usual.
The minimum temperature dipped to a brisk 6.1°C, making it feel even colder across the city.
Why does this matter?
The IMD has put out an orange alert for Sunday (so, expect thick fog and chilly mornings), followed by a yellow alert on Monday as the cold wave sticks around.
Visibility took a hit on Saturday morning with dense fog, and air quality was pretty rough too—AQI numbers soared past 400 in several spots like ITO and Anand Vihar.
