Delhi student's suicide sparks protests, official probe

A 16-year-old student at St. Columba's School, Delhi, died by suicide on November 19, leaving behind a note accusing school staff of mental harassment.
This heartbreaking incident has led to protests outside the school and a police investigation.
The accused teachers and headmistress have been placed under temporary suspension and face charges related to abetment of suicide.

Authorities step in: Investigation and action promised

The National Human Rights Commission has called for a thorough report within 10 days, while Delhi's Education Minister Ashish Sood has set up an inquiry committee to check if the school followed CBSE mental health guidelines.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage and have spoken to classmates as witnesses.
Sood assured, "My government will work to ensure the mental well-being of our future generations."
