Delhi University to reopen iconic 'Vande Mataram Hall' on this date
Delhi University is to reopen its iconic "Vande Mataram Hall" on Feb 04, 2026 after a major makeover, celebrating 150 years of the legendary song.
The hall, now upgraded with modern amenities and space for 680 people, is part of a larger push to refresh DU's campus—this renovation alone cost ₹5 crore.
Hall hosted convocations from 1948 to 2005
This hall isn't just another building—it's where convocations happened from 1948 to 2005 and even hosted presidents.
After falling into disrepair by 2021, it is to be inaugurated on Feb 04, 2026 as DU works to honor its heritage while building for the future.
It will join other revamped spaces like Shankar Lal and Tagore Halls upon its inauguration on Feb 04, 2026.
New girls' hostel, broadcasting studio in the works
The university has big plans ahead: a new girls' hostel, a broadcasting studio, and even a Centre for Odia Studies have been approved.
