Delhi wants private firms to help run 11 new hospitals

India

Delhi's government is turning to private companies to help finish and operate 11 hospitals that have been stuck in construction.
The idea? Speed things up and add thousands of much-needed hospital beds across the city.
They're bringing in experts to figure out if this public-private partnership (PPP) approach makes sense for each site, looking at finances, rules, and how it could all work smoothly.

What's actually changing?

Instead of waiting for more government funds, private firms would complete construction and manage these hospitals—but still under government watch.
The plan includes both general and ICU-focused hospitals, adding over 10,000 new beds (with more than 4,300 just for intensive care).
Locations span places like Jwalapuri, Siraspur, Shalimar Bagh, and Kirari.

Why should you care?

This could seriously upgrade Delhi's healthcare scene—especially when critical-care demand keeps rising.
If it works out, getting sick in the city might not feel quite so risky anymore.
