Kashmir finally gets a dusting of snow after weeks of dry weather
India
Kashmir's higher areas saw light snowfall on Sunday, breaking a long, unusually dry stretch.
Spots like Zojila Pass and Tulail Valley got about an inch—just enough to change the mood after the region missed out on over 80% of its usual rain since November.
Why does this matter?
The snow brings some relief, but both Kashmir and Jammu are still facing big water shortages.
The lack of rain has meant foggy mornings (not great for travel), less water for daily use and farming, and worries about winter hydropower.
More light snow or rain is expected in the coming days, but it may not be enough to fully turn things around just yet.
