Dense fog slows down flights at Delhi airport

India

Thick fog hit Delhi airport on Monday morning, so planes not equipped with CAT III technology may face delays or disruptions.
Delays or cancelations are expected at Delhi and some other airports in Northern India as a result.

Why does this matter?

Major airlines like IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have already warned about possible flight disruptions.
If your plane isn't CAT III ready, it's more likely to be delayed or canceled.
DIAL says they're working with everyone involved to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

What are airlines doing?

Air India has extra trained crews and backup staff on hand for foggy days and is giving out care packages to passengers stuck at airports.
The DGCA has set a "fog window" from December 10 to February 10—so expect these precautions for the next couple of months.

What should you do?

Before heading out, check your flight status online or in the app.
With all the delays and changes, it's smart to give yourself extra time getting to the airport—just in case things get backed up.
