DMK leader's car crash leaves 5 dead, 7 injured on Tamil Nadu highway

Early Saturday morning near Keelakarai, Tamil Nadu, a speeding car carrying DMK functionary Mushtaq Ahmed slammed into a parked vehicle outside a hotel.
The crash claimed the lives of Ahmed and four people from Andhra Pradesh—Ramachandra Rao, Apparao Naidu, Bandana Chandra Rao, and Ramar—and left seven others hurt.
What we know so far
Police say the accident happened around 3:00am while Ahmed's driver was at the wheel.
Four victims died at the scene; Ramar passed away later in hospital.
Seven injured people from both cars were rushed for treatment, with one transferred to Madurai for advanced care.
Authorities have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
