DRI intercepts illegal Pakistani-Origin goods
India's Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) just caught a huge smuggling attempt—1,115 tons of Pakistani goods hidden in 39 containers at Nhava Sheva port, Mumbai.
The importers tried to sneak the goods in by claiming they were from the UAE, dodging India's strict ban on Pakistani imports put in place after the May 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
The route? Karachi to Dubai, then repackaged and shipped to India with fake paperwork.
Probe still on into this international smuggling network
The DRI launched "Operation Deep Manifest" and arrested a partner from the importing firm involved.
Their ongoing "Operation Sindoor," which uses data analytics and intelligence to spot shady shipments, also helped crack this case.
Investigators found money trails linking back to Pakistan and even uncovered involvement from some UAE nationals who tried to cover up these illegal trades.
The probe is still on as officials dig deeper into this international smuggling network.
