ED attaches ₹61cr assets of ex-CM Bhupesh Baghel's son

India

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached assets worth ₹61.20 crore from Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, over his alleged role in a massive ₹2,500 crore liquor scam.
The operation reportedly drained state funds and funneled huge amounts of illegal money.

Chaitanya was the key player in the scam

Investigators say Chaitanya was the key player—managing accounts, moving illicit cash, and overseeing how the money flowed through the syndicate.
The attached assets include 364 plots of land plus bank deposits.
Chaitanya was arrested back in July 2024 and remains in custody as the probe continues; other top officials have also been arrested earlier, with more than ₹215 crore already attached before this latest move.
