India
A bus packed with about 60 people crashed head-on with a pickup truck on southern Peru's Pan-American Highway, sending the bus tumbling over 200 meters into a ravine by the Ocona River.
Sadly, 37 people lost their lives—most at the scene and one later in hospital—while 25 others, including three kids, were injured.

Authorities are still figuring out exactly what caused the crash, but reckless driving and speeding are often behind such tragedies in Peru.
The pickup truck driver has been detained for questioning while prosecutors collect evidence and help recover victims.
Survivors are being treated in hospitals across Camana and Arequipa.
