IGI Airport is getting a major glow-up
Delhi's IGI Airport is about to get a major glow-up.
By March, the airport will lock in its 2026 Master Plan, aiming to make travel smoother across Terminals 2 and 3, with plans for Terminal 4 in the future.
With more people flying than ever—and airlines like Air India and IndiGo asking for their own spaces—big changes are coming to help everyone move faster.
T3 will get a new domestic pier
Starting January 15, 2026, Terminal 3 will boost its international capacity by 50%, handling up to three crore passengers a year.
One domestic pier is turning international, so T3 will have three piers just for global flights.
To balance things out, Air India is shifting 60 daily domestic flights from T3 over to Terminal 2.
Air India Express will shift to Terminal 1
Air India Express isn't staying put either—it'll move all its domestic flights to Terminal 1 from October 26, 2025.
These moves are part of the airport's plan to handle way more people without chaos.
IGI Airport aims to boost annual passenger capacity
IGI wants to jump from handling about 10.5 crore passengers a year now to 12.5 crore by the end of this decade.
That means a new pier at T3, upgrades at T1, and even more aircraft stands in the works—plus plans for Terminal 4 down the line, with construction possibly beginning after T2 eventually retires around 2030.
If you fly often or just like smooth travel vibes, these upgrades could make your next trip through Delhi a lot easier.
