Eight killed in Nalanda Sheetla Mata Temple stampede, 4 arrested
A tragic stampede at Sheetla Mata Temple in Nalanda on March 31 left eight people dead and several injured.
Police have arrested four temple committee members for not alerting authorities about the huge crowd and for allegedly blocking proper crowd movement.
In total, legal action is being taken against 40 people linked to negligence and mismanagement during the event.
Bihar police to review temple security
After the incident, Bihar's police chief has called for a full security review at religious places across the state, looking closely at entry and exit points and crowd control plans.
Local police will now help manage queues to keep things safer, as early investigations found both temple staff and police did not handle the massive turnout of more than 8,000 devotees well enough.
