Ethiopian volcano's ash cloud to reach India by today
India
A massive ash cloud from Ethiopia's Hayli Gubbi volcano—its first major activity in nearly 10,000 years—is on its way to India.
The cloud is expected to arrive over Gujarat by 10pm tonight and drift across Rajasthan, North-Western Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, and the Himalayan foothills.
This could mean hazier skies than usual and possible flight delays in these areas.
What's happening in the skies?
The ash cloud is cruising high above us, between 15,000 and 45,000 feet, moving at about 100-120km/h.
While it probably won't cause big problems on the ground, it has already forced some flights to change routes over the Arabian Peninsula.
Meteorologists are watching things closely to keep travel disruptions minimal and make sure everyone stays safe.
