What's the story

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has hailed the success of "Operation Sindoor," saying India's military strength has reached a point where "victory has become a habit." He made these remarks while flagging off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the new BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow. The manufacturer of the supersonic cruise missile system announced that it had completed production at its new integration and testing unit in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow.

Missile range

BrahMos missile's reach to Pakistan

Singh praised the armed forces for their precision and preparedness, stating that India's adversaries could no longer evade its advanced missile capabilities. "The country is confident that our adversaries will no longer be able to escape BrahMos. Every inch of Pakistani territory is now within the reach of our BrahMos," he said. He also warned Pakistan that "Operation Sindoor" was only a glimpse of India's capabilities.

Defense hub

Lucknow to become defense technology hub

The BrahMos team has signed contracts worth around ₹4,000 crore with two countries in just one month. Singh said experts from other countries will soon come to Lucknow, making it a knowledge hub and leader in defense technology. The Lucknow unit's turnover will be around ₹3,000 crore from the next financial year, with an annual GST collection of ₹5,000 crore.

Local support

UP government supports BrahMos project

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed support for the BrahMos project, saying over 2,500 acres of land have been allocated for it in six nodes. He said this has employed over 15,000 youth in the state. Adityanath also highlighted that his government is ready to provide more land if needed and estimated annual GST revenue from missile production could be ₹150-200 crore.

Indigenous strength

PM Modi lauds India's air defense capabilities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier praised India's air defense capabilities during "Operation Sindoor," which neutralized Pakistani drones and missiles. He said, "During 'Operation Sindoor,' the world saw the capabilities of our indigenous weapons." Jointly developed by India's DRDO and Russian firm NPO Mashinostroyeniya, BrahMos missiles were extensively used to target Pakistan's military infrastructure during the operation.
