Farmers set to protest in Delhi on November 1
The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) is gearing up for a big protest in Delhi on Wednesday, calling out the government for what they see as "anti-farmer" policies.
This marks five years since the major farmers' agitation in Delhi.
AIKS President Rajan Kshirsagar says the government still hasn't acted on key promises like fair minimum support prices or exempting import duty on cotton.
Why farmers are upset
Farmers across 12 states have lost crops to wild weather this year, but they're still waiting for disaster relief funds from the Centre.
There's also frustration over the State government's amendment of the Disaster Management Act 2025 that swaps 'compensation' for 'relief,' which many feel weakens support.
On top of that, some sugar factories aren't paying farmers what they're owed—Kshirsagar wants legal action and insists that the government must be held accountable.
