What caused gangster Atiq Ahmed son's fatal crash
What's the story
Aban Ahmed, the youngest son of slain gangster Atiq Ahmed, died in a road accident in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. The incident occurred when Aban and four others were traveling in a white Hyundai Creta. They were headed to meet his brother Ali Ahmed at the Jhansi district jail when they crashed into a divider near Poonch police station area.

Aban and friend died on the spot
The accident was so intense that it tore off the front of the SUV. Aban and his friend Sonu died in the crash, while three others were injured.
According to official records, the vehicle was registered in Mohammad Zaid's name, who was among those injured.
The Creta had been involved in several traffic violations and had received several overspeeding challans.
It was also fined for being driven without a valid driving license.
Investigation underway
CCTV footage not available
Preliminary investigations by Jhansi police suggest overspeeding may have caused the crash. The region has witnessed heavy rainfall recently, making roads slippery, cops told AajTak.
However, no CCTV footage is available as it was a rural area without surveillance cameras.
Locals were first to respond to the accident, taking injured persons to hospital.
"The car lost balance and crashed. After that, I don't remember what happened," Umar, who is among the injured, said.
Family losses
Aban was on his way to meet brother Ali Ahmed
This incident adds to the list of tragedies that have befallen Atiq's family over the past three years.
His eldest son Umar Ahmed has been in Lucknow jail since 2022 for extortion and assault.
The second son Ali is also behind bars in Jhansi for extortion. He was moved from Prayagraj earlier this year.
Aban was on his way to meet him when the accident occurred.

Tragedies that befell Atiq Ahmed's family
Atiq's third son Asad Ahmed was killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Police's special task force (STF) on April 13, 2023.
He was wanted in connection with Umesh Pal's murder case. Pal was a key witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.
On April 15 that same year, Atiq and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf were shot dead by three assailants posing as journalists while being escorted for a medical examination in Prayagraj.
