FIP defends pilots after AI171 crash, threatens legal action
India
After the Air India AI171 crash, the pilots' group (FIP) is warning against blaming the pilots and says it's ready to take legal action if anyone does.
They're also urging aviation authorities to run simulator tests on Boeing 787s, arguing that the official accident report might not have all the facts right.
FIP finds ram air turbine delay
The FIP ran their own tests and found that a key safety device (the ram air turbine) takes longer to deploy than what investigators reported.
They pointed out 31 similar incidents worldwide and feel pilots are being unfairly targeted while manufacturers get a pass.
The Supreme Court has stated that pilots cannot be blamed at this stage, they remind everyone that blaming pilots now could even land you in legal trouble.
