India

Assam saw a tough weekend on the roads, with four people losing their lives in two separate accidents and six more injured near Guwahati.
In Nagaon's Rupahihat area, three residents from Kanchanpur village—Rajdul, Mehedi Alam, and Shakil Ahmed—died after their bike lost control and hit an electric pole.
Meanwhile in Morigaon district, truck driver Manab Jyoti Deka tragically died when he jumped from his malfunctioning truck but slipped and was run over by his own vehicle.

What's happening now?

Police have identified all the victims and sent their bodies for postmortem. Investigations are ongoing to figure out exactly what went wrong in each case.
Separately, six people hurt in another accident near Hajo are being treated at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
These incidents highlight how road safety continues to be a major concern across Assam.
