Gaurav Taneja proposes overloading as cause for Air India crash
Gaurav Taneja, ex-AirAsia captain and YouTuber, is speaking out after the Air India Flight 171 crash near Ahmedabad on June 12.
He's calling out how quick people are to blame pilots who can't defend themselves, and he's not convinced by outside experts blaming "pilot error" over flap retraction.
What Taneja thinks happened
The London-bound Boeing 787-8 crashed just after takeoff, with only one survivor out of 242 people.
Taneja looked at flight data and noticed the plane used more runway than usual and kicked up dust at the end—plus it struggled for speed once airborne.
He thinks this could point to something rare like both engines failing.
Blaming the pilots is easy, says Taneja
Taneja says, "It's very easy to blame the pilots when they are not there to defend themselves."
He also points out that planes are certified for flap issues and that crashes like this hardly ever happen in modern aviation.
Could the crash be linked to cargo issues?
He brings up past crashes—like Aurangabad in 1993 (overloading) and a Tel Aviv flight (cargo paperwork errors)—suggesting overloading or cargo mistakes might have played a part here too.
