Goa CM promises action after tragic nightclub fire

India

After a devastating fire at Birch by Romeo Lane in Arpora left 25 people dead on December 6, Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured that the state is taking action to track down absconders.
The tragedy has pushed the government to step up safety efforts across Goa.

What's changing for party season

With Christmas and New Year around the corner, Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte met with district officials and police to tighten up safety rules for clubs and events.
A special fire safety audit committee will now inspect nightclubs statewide, aiming to prevent future disasters—especially as tourist crowds pick up for the holidays.
A magisterial inquiry into the incident is also underway.
