Government temporarily blocks Telegram during NEET-UG 2026 re-exam citing misuse
During the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam, the government temporarily blocked Telegram, saying it was very much justifiable because lakhs of students are impacted and Telegram has all the potential of getting misused by miscreants.
The ban, which lasts until June 22, was challenged in the Delhi High Court, with both sides laying out their arguments.
The Center insisted this move was about preventing misuse during the exam.
Officials: Telegram bots hinder law enforcement
Officials pointed out that Telegram's setup, especially its ability to run up to 40 bots per account, makes it easy for information to spread fast without much control.
They argued this makes tracking misuse tough for law enforcement, especially when millions rely on the app.
Now, everyone is waiting for the court's verdict on whether the ban stays or goes.
