Gujarat High Court denies woman's maintenance plea from 3rd husband
India
The Gujarat High Court has turned down a woman's request for maintenance from her third husband, saying she is qualified enough to support herself.
The court pointed out that she holds an MBA, left her matrimonial home and abandoned her then two-and-a-half-year-old daughter by choice, and had already received ₹11.5 lakh as alimony from her previous marriage.
High Court cites education and alimony
Judges felt her education and past alimony showed she could manage on her own.
They also noted she had sought maintenance in the current petition, and there were claims that some details about her marriages were kept hidden.
All in all, the court did not see a good reason to change the earlier decision.
