Gujarat: Teen and boyfriend accused of murdering her father over relationship
In Padra village near Vadodara, a 17-year-old girl and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Ranjit Waghela, have been accused of killing her father, Shana Chavda.
Chavda strongly opposed their relationship and had even filed a POCSO case against Ranjit Waghela after she eloped in July 2025.
How the crime unfolded and what's next
Police say the girl tried three times to drug her parents with sleeping pills before finally succeeding on December 18.
After sedating them, she contacted Waghela and his associate, who entered the house.
Chavda was stabbed three times while asleep as his daughter watched from another room. His body was found the next day.
Both Waghela and his associate have been arrested, and the girl has also been arrested while police are tracing where the sleeping pills and weapon came from.
The investigation is ongoing.
