Public reaction
Delhi's air quality also 'hazardous'
One resident took to the social media platform X, saying, "Gurugram AQI is more than 800 today. It's hazardous for my kid to go out to attend school. As a parent, I request to close down schools." The AQI.in website has equated the current air quality in Gurugram to smoking more than nine cigarettes daily. Delhi also witnessed hazardous air quality on Thursday with an AQI of 705 at 9:00am.

Capital pollution
Vehicular emissions major contributor to pollution
Delhi's air quality was recorded as hazardous by over a dozen monitoring stations, with Burari, Anand Vihar, Aerocity, and Bawana being among the most polluted areas. The Decision Support System (DSS) calculated that vehicular emissions contributed 16.8% to PM2.5 levels in Delhi, while unidentified sources accounted for 44%. Satellite data revealed stubble burning incidents in Punjab (94), Haryana (13), and Uttar Pradesh (74).
Regional pollution
Air quality in neighboring Noida also hazardous
Noida's air quality was also recorded to be over 600, falling in the "hazardous" category. In Rajasthan's Jaipur, about four hours away from Delhi-NCR, the AQI was recorded at an "unhealthy" level of 180. This is 1.6 times higher than Rajasthan's average AQI. The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi predicted that wind speed may drop below 10km/h from the northwest direction during evening and night hours on Wednesday.
