Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom: Schools, colleges shut tomorrow

On November 24, schools and colleges in several northern Indian states—including Punjab, Delhi, and Haryana—will be closed to honor the 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom.
In Uttar Pradesh, the holiday will be observed on November 25.
Known as the "Shield of India," he stood up for religious freedom and refused to abandon his beliefs, even when threatened by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
