H1N1 cases rising in Delhi-NCR, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan urges calm
H1N1 (swine flu) cases are going up in Delhi-NCR, mostly because of seasonal changes and more people getting tested.
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, former WHO chief scientist, reassured everyone that the virus hasn't changed from last year and there's no need to panic.
She suggested we look at testing rates compared to previous years before worrying.
Soumya Swaminathan recommends seasonal flu vaccination
Dr. Swaminathan pointed out that COVID-19 is still around and could overlap with H1N1, so hospitals should stay alert.
She recommended getting a seasonal flu shot, especially for children, older adults, pregnant women, and anyone with weak immunity, as it kicks in within two weeks.
Typical H1N1 symptoms are fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, and body aches; if things get serious, don't wait to see a doctor.
To stay safe: wash your hands often, wear a mask if you're sick, and try to skip crowded places when feeling unwell.
