Haorah river flooding displaces 974 across West Tripura, Khowai
Heavy rain overnight on Saturday flooded parts of West Tripura, including Agartala, as the Haorah River's water level increased.
At least 974 people from 280 families had to leave their homes in West Tripura and Khowai districts, with Sadar and Jirania hit hardest.
Daily life was thrown off as water entered low-lying areas and many houses along the riverbanks.
Authorities set up 11 relief camps
Authorities quickly set up 11 relief camps across the affected areas to shelter displaced families (thankfully, no injuries have been reported).
Boats were used to help evacuate those stranded by floodwaters.
The state's chief minister has called for round-the-clock support while weather officials warn that more heavy rain could be on the way.
Just last month, similar floods forced over 2,000 residents to leave home, so everyone's staying alert this time around.
