Heart disease main cause of sudden deaths in young adults: Study

India

A new AIIMS study has found that heart disease is now the leading cause of sudden deaths in people under 45, even among those who seemed healthy.
The research, published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research, highlights that more than half of these unexpected fatalities happen to young adults—most often men around 33 years old.

What else did they find?

Out of over 2,200 autopsies, about 57% of sudden deaths were in young adults.
Heart issues—especially undiagnosed coronary artery disease—were behind nearly 43% of these cases.
Respiratory problems and lifestyle habits like smoking and drinking also played a role.
Experts are urging regular check-ups and early screenings to catch hidden heart risks before it's too late.
