Heavy rain in Hyderabad causes waterlogging and major traffic jams
Hyderabad finally got a break from the heat with some much-needed rain on Thursday evening, but it quickly turned messy.
Heavy showers led to waterlogged roads and major traffic jams in spots like S.R. Nagar, Somajiguda, Maitrivanam Junction, Greenlands Flyover toward Begumpet, Banjara Hills, and Secunderabad.
Many commuters were affected by waterlogging and traffic congestion as the city struggled to cope.
TGDPS lists Hyderabad rainfall totals tonight
Traffic police from multiple commissionerates and Disaster Response Force teams jumped in to help clear flooded streets and keep things moving.
According to rainfall stats from TGDPS, Quthbullapur saw the heaviest downpour at 37.5mm, followed by Moosapet (30.5mm), Balanagar (27.8mm), Maitrivanam (26.5mm), Banjara Hills (21.8mm), Secunderbad (21.3mm), Begumpet (19mm), LB Nagar (16.5mm), and Mehdipatnam (12.3mm).
The widespread showers really made their mark on daily life across Hyderabad tonight.
