Heavy rainfall triggers landslides, blocks over 80 roads in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand has been hit by some serious rainfall, leading to landslides that have blocked more than 80 roads across the state.
The Mussoorie-Dehradun road took a hit when a portion of the road that was being repaired subsided amid fresh muck and boulder falls, leaving tourists and commuters stranded and forcing traffic onto alternate routes.
Even the Gangotri National Highway was blocked for a while before the Border Roads Organisation managed to clear it up.
IMD yellow alert for 11 districts
The India Meteorological Department has put out a yellow alert for heavy rain and possible landslides in 11 districts, including Dehradun, Nainital, and Chamoli.
While the IMD Dehradun center recorded localized heavy showers in several areas between 8.30am and 1pm
Bageshwar district got drenched: rainfall there shot up by 374% above normal.
