Hindon loses 16 routes, movements drop from 1,168 to 404
Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad is feeling the heat after Noida International Airport (NIA) opened in Jewar.
Since NIA started operations, Hindon has lost at least 16 flight routes, pretty major for an airport that launched in 2019 to make flying around NCR easier and cheaper.
At its peak last year, Hindon had 1,168 aircraft movements in August 2025, but by April this year, that number dropped to 404 domestic aircraft movements in April 2026.
Passengers halved, AAI expands Hindon terminal
With fewer flights, passenger numbers have also dropped by half. Airlines like IndiGo and Air India Express have withdrawn trips to big cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Jaipur.
To turn things around, the Airports Authority of India is expanding Hindon's terminal and is working with government officials to bring back more flights and carriers.
