IAF Tejas fighter jet crashes at Dubai Air Show
A HAL Tejas fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed during a demonstration flight at the Dubai Air Show on Friday, on the event's final day.
The accident happened around 2:10pm local time at Al Maktoum International Airport, and sadly, the pilot did not survive.
What happened at the show?
The crash took place right in front of a large crowd, including families and kids, sending thick black smoke into the sky.
Emergency teams rushed in immediately after the incident.
What is HAL Tejas?
The Tejas is India's first homegrown light combat aircraft, designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Aeronautical Development Agency.
Its name means "Radiance" in Sanskrit.
The IAF currently flies the Mk1 version and is waiting for an upgraded Mk1A with better radar and electronic warfare systems.
