IMD issues orange alert as unseasonal rains waterlog Pune roads
India
Pune has been hit with an orange alert from the IMD, thanks to surprise thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Since April 2, unseasonal heavy rain has left key spots like Sinhagad Road, Dhankawadi, and Hadapsar waterlogged and traffic moving at a crawl.
Locals are being told to stay alert as more showers are likely through April 3.
IMD attributes downpour to western disturbance
The downpour started Thursday afternoon with winds up to 42km/h, making commutes a headache for everyone.
Temperatures are hovering between 23 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius with humidity at 42%.
According to the IMD, these weird weather patterns are due to a western disturbance, and things should finally start clearing up by April 5.
For now, umbrellas are your best friend.
