IMD issues orange alert for hailstorms, heavy rain in Himachal

Heads up if you're in Himachal Pradesh: the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out an orange alert for October 6, 2025, in six districts—Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Lahaul-Spiti.
Expect hailstorms, very heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 50km/h.
Yellow alerts are also set for other days and areas from October 5 to 7.

Flash floods, landslides possible

This sudden weather shift follows unusually hot days—Una and Seobagh just hit 34°C on October 4.
The IMD says these storms could bring flash flooding and landslides in affected districts.
With a western disturbance moving through northwest India this week, it's a good idea to stay updated and plan ahead to avoid disruptions.
