IMD warns of heavy rain in South India next week
India
Heads up, South India: The IMD says two weather systems—one in the Arabian Sea and another forming in the Bay of Bengal—are about to bring heavy rain and gusty winds.
The Arabian Sea system, near Kerala and Karnataka, could turn into a depression by October 19 or 20, while the Bay of Bengal system may head toward the Tamil Nadu coast after October 24.
Fishermen warned to stay off southeast Arabian Sea
Expect heavy to very heavy rain in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka from October 18-22.
The IMD is warning fishermen to stay off the southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep, and coastal residents should prep for possible flooding and strong winds.
Meanwhile, most of North India will stay dry and cool, so this is mainly a southern story.
