India just found gold—literally—in 4 states
India
Big news: India has uncovered new gold reserves in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.
Analysts from SBI Research say these finds could add 20-30 tons to India's proven gold reserves, which currently stand at around 500 tons.
This is a big deal since India usually imports around 700-800 tons of gold every year—costing billions.
Why does this matter?
More local gold means less need for expensive imports. Odisha alone discovered over 1,600kg of gold ore this year.
Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh also reported major finds and upgrades to their mines, while Karnataka struck high-grade gold (and even some lithium).
If all goes well, these discoveries could save India up to $3 billion by 2030—and create jobs along the way.
