India posts strongest QS 2027 result since 2020: 52 institutions
India recorded its strongest performance since 2020 in the QS World University Rankings 2027, with 52 institutions making the list, the fifth-highest worldwide.
IIT-Delhi climbed to No. 118, matching IIT-Bombay's best-ever spot in the 2026 rankings.
This milestone shows Indian universities are stepping up their game globally.
IITs and non-IITs climb QS ranks
Other IITs like Madras (170) and Kharagpur (205) moved up too, while IISc Bangalore reached No. 221.
Non-IITs also made waves: Shoolini University broke into India's top 10, and VIT and BITS Pilani saw big leaps.
IISc ranked 21st globally for research citations, and six Indian institutions landed in the world's top 100 for employer reputation, led by IIT-Bombay at No. 32.
Overall, India's higher education scene is on a serious rise.
