India to allow foreign-bound ships stranded in Iran conflict
India
With the Strait of Hormuz closed because of the Iran conflict, India is making things easier for exporters.
For the next 15 days, ships that had to turn back and did not call at any foreign port can unload at Indian ports without filing a Bill of Entry.
This quick fix is meant to help traders and shipping lines who got caught up in the sudden maritime chaos.
How will the process work?
If a ship comes straight back to India (without stopping at any foreign port), it can unload cargo without filing a bill of entry.
Customs officers will double-check everything by hand, just to keep things fair and prevent false export claims.
The ICEGATE system will handle all cancelations and updates with banking and trade authorities, so exporters aren't left in limbo.
