India to receive 1st locally made BrahMos warhead from Nagpur
India just hit a big milestone in defense tech: its first locally made warhead for the BrahMos supersonic missile will be delivered from Maharashtra's Nagpur on Thursday.
Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited (SDAL), part of Solar Industries, made it happen, and this delivery also marked its 100th missile booster.
It's a solid step toward making India's defense gear more self-sufficient.
Chandigarh lab to test warhead
Before it gets used by the military, the new warhead will be tested at Chandigarh's Terminal Ballistics Research Lab.
This move is part of India's push to reduce reliance on Russian-made warheads, a journey that started back in 2017-18 with DRDO leading the way through a tech transfer deal.
BrahMos 1st deployed in Operation Sindoor
The BrahMos missile isn't just for show; it was actually used during Operation < em>Sindoor last year as part of India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
That was its first real-world deployment, showing how effective and valuable it is when things get serious.
