Indian Railways steps up after IndiGo flight cancelations

India

With IndiGo canceling a number of flights lately, Indian Railways is stepping in to accommodate increased passenger demand.
Starting December 6, they're adding 116 extra coaches across 37 trains to handle the rush and keep journeys smooth for travelers affected by the surge in demand following the flight cancelations.

How different regions are boosting capacity

Southern Railway is leading by adding more Chair Car and Sleeper coaches on 18 busy trains.
Northern Railway is pitching in with extra 3AC and Chair Car coaches on eight trains.
Western, East Central, and East Coast Railways are upgrading services too—think more AC coaches on key New Delhi routes.
Even Eastern and Northeast Frontier Railways are joining the effort, making sure travelers all over the country have better chances of getting a seat when they need it most.
