India's big reservoirs running a bit low, but still above average

India

India's 166 major reservoirs are now at about 88% capacity—a slight dip blamed on last week's weak post-monsoon rains (down 23%).
Still, there's a silver lining: storage is actually up 7% from last year and sits well above the decade average.

Region-wise ups and downs—and what's next

Not all regions are in the same boat. Western and central India are doing pretty well, with most reservoirs over 90% full—Maharashtra and Gujarat even top 94%.
The east is lagging behind at around 80%.
On the bright side, strong post-monsoon showers since October have filled up some reservoirs completely and helped boost rabi crop sowing by 12%.
And with Cyclone Ditwah bringing more rain to the south soon, water levels there could get a nice bump.
