India's DGFT announces food and construction supplies to Maldives 2026-27
India is set to send a big batch of essentials (think eggs, rice, onions, potatoes, sugar, dal, wheat flour, river sand, and stone aggregate) to the Maldives for 2026-27.
Announced by the DGFT on Wednesday, this move is part of a long-standing trade agreement and shows India's ongoing support for its island neighbor under the Neighborhood First policy.
CAPEXIL to secure environmental clearances
We are talking about some serious numbers: more than 448 million eggs and more than 230,000 tons of rice are on the list.
Sand and stone aggregate exports will each hit 1.3 million tons, but only if they meet strict environmental rules.
CAPEXIL will make sure all suppliers get proper clearances before anything ships out from designated ports like Mundra and Visakhapatnam.
This whole initiative continues a partnership that began back in 1981 to help the Maldives with resources it doesn't have locally.
