India's hypersonic leap: ET-LDHCM missile under Project Vishnu
India is getting ready to test its new Extended Trajectory-Long Duration Hypersonic Cruise Missile (ET-LDHCM) soon. Built by DRDO under Project Vishnu, this missile can fly over Mach 8 (that's around 11,000km/h!) and reach targets up to 1,500km away.
ET-LDHCM can carry nuclear warheads, tough to spot on radar
The ET-LDHCM isn't just fast—it's versatile. It can carry both regular and nuclear warheads (up to 2,000kg), uses a special scramjet engine that breathes air for fuel, and can launch from land, sea, or air. Plus, it's tough to spot on radar. With this tech, India joins the US, China, and Russia in the hypersonic club.
Hypersonic missiles can hit targets with almost no warning
If the test goes well, India could seriously boost its defense game. The missile's speed and range mean it could hit distant targets with almost no warning—shaking up the balance of power in the region and giving India some extra strategic confidence.
