India's NCPCR summons Meta after BBC finds child abuse ads

India's National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has summoned Meta (yes, the company behind Instagram and Facebook) after a BBC investigation found ads on Instagram leading people to disturbing child abuse content elsewhere.
Meta says it's removed some of these ads but admits stopping everything is tough.
India's IT Ministry is also asking Meta for answers.
Report finds Meta cleared 57% ads
A recent Tech Transparency Project report found hundreds of similar ads on both platforms, including some that were served to India.
The report criticized Meta for labeling these as just adult sexual content, which downplays how serious the problem is.
Even more worrying: 57% of flagged ads were still marked as okay by Meta's own standards.
