IndiGo flight cancelations: What you're owed if your plans got messed up
IndiGo's wave of last-minute flight cancelations has left a lot of travelers stranded and frustrated.
If your flight was canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, DGCA rules say you're entitled to compensation or an alternate option—sometimes even meals or hotel stays if the delay drags on.
Your rights (and how much you can claim)
Compensation depends on how long your flight was supposed to be: ₹5,000 for flights up to 1 hour, ₹7,500 for 1-2 hours, and ₹10,000 for longer trips.
This doesn't apply if the cancelation was due to things totally out of the airline's control.
Courts have backed passengers when airlines don't provide real reasons—like in recent cases where Air India and IndiGo faced substantial compensation for unfair delays and false cancelations.
If a bunch of people are affected together, group claims are also possible under consumer law.
