INS Mahe: India's new homegrown anti-submarine ship joins the Navy

India

INS Mahe, the first of its class, has just been commissioned into the Indian Navy.
Built with over 80% indigenous content in India at Cochin Shipyard, this vessel marks a big step for local defense tech and strengthens the country's maritime security.

What makes INS Mahe special?

At 70 meters long and weighing over 1,000 tons, INS Mahe is packed with advanced gear—think rapid-fire guns, rocket launchers, anti-torpedo systems, and torpedo tubes.
It can zip around at up to 25 knots and handle everything from submarine hunting to rescue missions.
Plus, it's part of a bigger plan to modernize India's naval fleet with more homegrown ships on the way.
