ISIS Diwali terror attack foiled in Delhi; 2 arrested
Delhi Police arrested two young men—Mohammad Adnan Khan (19) from Delhi and Adnan Khan (20) from Bhopal—for allegedly planning terror attacks on busy spots in the capital during Diwali 2024.
The duo had pledged loyalty to ISIS in a video and were reportedly getting instructions from a handler based in Syria.
Their plan was to set off homemade bombs at crowded places like malls and parks during the festival.
Arrests made after recovering plastic bombs, Molotov cocktails
During the investigation, police found plastic bombs, Molotov cocktails, an ISIS flag, clothes used for their pledge video, phones loaded with propaganda and bomb-making guides, plus timer devices and storage drives.
Officials say these arrests stopped a well-advanced terrorist plot just before the festive rush.
Further investigations are underway to map out any wider network or additional threats.
