Itanagar Municipal Corporation bans meat references in eatery names
Arunachal Pradesh's capital just got a new rule: eateries can no longer use names that mention meats like chicken, pork, beef, or mutton.
The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) says this move is about promoting animal welfare and keeping things respectful in public spaces.
If you're opening a new spot, you won't get a license with a meat-themed name. Existing places have until April 10 to switch things up or risk legal trouble.
Itanagar Municipal Corporation cites decency concerns
The IMC wants hotels and restaurants/eateries in Itanagar with meat-based nomenclature to stick to what they call public decency standards, meaning no potentially offensive meat references in restaurant names or ads.
Officials will be checking that everyone follows the rules.
Either way, expect some creative new eatery names around Itanagar soon!
