Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025: Massive security measures in place
The iconic Jagannath Rath Yatra is back in Puri, Odisha, starting June 27, 2025.
Every year, massive crowds come together to pull the giant chariots of Lord Jagannath and his siblings through the city—a four-kilometer journey believed to bring spiritual blessings.
Safety 1st! 10,000 personnel on duty
Odisha isn't taking any chances with safety this year—over 10,000 security personnel will be on duty and about 275 CCTV cameras are in place.
Quick Response Teams are ready if anything goes wrong.
For health emergencies, there'll be 69 temporary health centers around Puri, supported by ambulances and a team of doctors and paramedics.
Chariot procession on June 27
From Snana Purnima (the ritual bath) on June 12 to temple cleaning on June 26, there's a build-up before the main event—the chariot procession on June 27.
The three towering chariots are hand-crafted each year by local artisans; it's a big moment for tradition lovers.
Bahuda Yatra and other important rituals
The return trip—Bahuda Yatra—happens July 4, with Suna Besha and Niladri Bijay occurring on July 5.
Whether you're into culture or just want to experience something epic with friends, this festival draws people from all over India (and beyond) for its energy and history.
