Jammu and Kashmir Police raid mosques, madrassas in Srinagar

India

On Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out raids at several mosques and madrassas in Srinagar.
This move comes after the recent Red Fort blast on November 10, as authorities step up efforts to track down terrorist support networks.
The police worked alongside Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses to collect evidence linked to activities threatening national security.

What's behind the crackdown?

The raids targeted areas flagged by credible intelligence for possible radical activity. Officers checked digital devices and documents for any ties to terrorist groups.
The operation follows the discovery of 3,000kg of explosives-making material in Faridabad—connected to the Red Fort blast—and a tragic accidental explosion at a Srinagar police station that claimed nine lives.
These efforts are part of a bigger push to break up terror networks and keep public safety front and center in the region.
